Jane Herman Galleries
The work you see on these pages are all one-of-a-kind garments and accessories. The cloth is hand-made using a felting technique called "nuno", or laminated, felt. Each piece of clothing is individually constructed. Clothes are made for two seasons: spring/summer or fall/winter. Colors, fabrics and styles reflect these two different seasons. A garment style may be repeated, but always in a different fabric. Because these garments are hand-made, there may be individual differences among similar items.
All clothes are made in three sizes: small, medium, and large. X-small and X-large may be specifically ordered. Accessory sizing varies. Hats are sized from 21 inches to 24 inches, whole sizes only. Other accessories, such as scarves and shawls, come in a standardized size.
While some prototype pieces are made for exhibition purposes, the majority
of work is sold in boutiques, stores and wearable-art galleries. It is attire
for the fashionable client who is looking for beautiful and unusual hand-made
apparel. |
